In applications where there are no rapid load changes, the integrated inverter function can be used for Automatic Energy Optimization (AEO). Automatic adjustment of the magnetization level of the motor takes place after the application has reached the steady state of operation.

With the reduction of the magnetization level and the motor current, the motor voltage and thus the energy consumption is also reduced. The average energy saving potential for small to medium size frequency converters is 3 to 5% of the rated power during operation under light loads.

Another positive side effect of the AEO is the noise reduction of the motor – even at low to medium switching frequencies.

For reliable operation, there must be an optimum balance between energy demand and sufficient magnetization for sudden load peaks.

The AEO proves itself especially in pump and fan applications but also in applications with constant load torque without dynamic acceleration requirements, such as assembly lines.
